Shannon commenced his career in corporate restructuring and recovery at Ferrier Hodgson, where he spent 5 years across a number of formal and informal appointments through a wide range of industries.  Shannon completed the Chartered Accountants Program and became a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australian and New Zealand in August 2011 and has also received an Advance Certificate in Insolvency from Australian Restructuring Insolvency & Turnaround Association. 

From 2012 to 2013 Shannon moved abroad and lived in London where he joined a venture capital firm providing financial and strategic advice to the investment and portfolio team of Downing LLP various business opportunities and investments.

In 2014 Shannon joined the family’s practice, ML Coleman & Associates providing business services and taxation advice to individuals and small-medium size businesses.  On 7 February 2015, Shannon purchased a practice in Bullsbrook, Western Australia identifying the potential growth opportunity and the lack of professional services in the local community.

Shannon has extensive experience in a wide range of industries including but not limited to, mining, mining services, property, agribusiness, pubs and clubs, construction, transport retail and wholesale.  Across these industries, Shannon has gained extensive knowledge of Corporations Law, Taxation, SMSF and the Personal Property Securities Act.

Karen Crowe CPA, CTA, Affiliate CA

Karen joined Verto Consulting in 2021 as a manager, with more than ten years of experience in public practice, both in Perth and overseas.  In July 2023, Karen became a Director and Shareholder of the company, to work with Shannon to continue to grow the firm and further strengthen the leadership team. 

A CPA, CTA (Chartered Taxation Adviser) and Affiliate CA, Karen is a client focused tax specialist and has extensive technical knowledge in all areas of accounting, taxation, business advisory, management reporting, estate planning, succession planning and Self-Managed Superannuation.  Karen also holds a Graduate Diploma in Applied Tax Law with The Tax Institute.

Karen has extensive experience in a wide range of industries including but not limited to professional services, construction, agribusiness, property development, commercial leasing and the hospitality industry and can provide taxation advice in relation to all areas of taxation including but not limited to Corporate Tax, Capital Gains Tax (CGT) and small business CGT concessions, Income Tax, GST, FBT and she also has experience in international taxation and has lodged tax returns with various overseas revenue authorities.
